Course Description
A language enhancement class designed specifically for graduate-level interpreting trainees, this class aims to help students develop advanced listening and public speaking skills an interpreter needs to process and deliver a speaker's words and intentions accurately and effectively in the register and manner appropriate for a conference setting. Throughout the semester, students will be asked to engage in critical reflections of one's own listening and speaking strategies, analysis of a large body of sample speeches, and give speech presentations in both English and Chinese. Students are expected to engage fully in classroom discussions and activities, and conduct independent and group work outside of class.
